Craig Ewing's "Space"
Thailand Trip During April, 2003

(The following pages were recreated from notes that I took while I was on the trip.)

Pictures         Text

This was my third trip to Thailand.   Some highlights of the trip were (in no particular
order) --

  1. Regarding the 4 countries that I visited during the 3 week period, the ones from
poorest to richest were Cambodia, Vietnam, The Philippines, and Thailand.
  2. The local Thai people said that there were less tourists than usual, probably because
of the Iraq-U.S. war and also Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome ("SARS").
  3. When I flew to Bangkok from Vietnam, I was tested for Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome ("SARS").   They placed a 2-inch long by 1/2-inch wide paper
thermometer on my forehead to check my temperature.   No other flights into
Bangkok from other countries (Cambodia or The Philippines) had such a test nor did
any of the other countries (Vietnam, Cambodia, nor The Philippines) have a test.
  4. The Sky Train is a simple, useful way to travel along Sukhumvit Road.
  5. If you plan on visiting the Grand Palace in Bangkok, note that it closes at 3:30pm.
  6. There is a billiards/restaurant establishment on Soi Seven where you can get access
    to the Internet for free.
  7. If you don't want to get wet, then don't visit Thailand during the Songkran Festival
    in April.
National/International Crisis
Strangely, whenever I travel to a country in either Asia or the South Pacific, a national
or international crisis occurs.   During this trip, the crisis was international -- Severe
Acute Respiratory Syndrome ("SARS").   The fun never ends!

As I have mentioned on other pages that I have created on my Web site, I discovered that
my friends and family who use AOL's software are not able to access the pages if they
contain pictures.   With that in mind, I have created 2 set of pages here.   One contains
pictures and the other contains text.   Sorry for the inconvenience.
